FAQs

What are Anti-Wrinkle Injections?

Used since the 1980s, Botulinum Toxin, commonly known as 'Botox', is a naturally occurring protein that causes relaxation of muscles. It's therefore the most popular anti-wrinkle injection.

What are they used for?

Botox® can be used to effectively reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and may also be used to treat hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating) and bruxism (involuntary grinding of teeth).

What aftercare is needed?

Continue as normal post-treatment. Avoid strenuous activity or other facial treatments for 24 hours. You will notice an improvement in your wrinkles in 7 - 10 days.

What does the procedure involve?

Small quantities of Botox® are injected to the areas as required. Numbing cream is generally not needed for this procedure - only mild discomfort is experienced. The procedure itself will last only a few minutes.

What are the side effects / risks?

Swelling and redness are common but temporary, subsiding soon after your procedure. Infection, bruising and asymmetry are other risks. Note: you cannot have Dermal Fillers if you are pregnant, breast-feeding or have severe allergies.

Where can they be used?

  • Forehead

  • Glabella - between the eyes (brow)

  • Crow's feet - around the eyes
