FAQs

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are Hyaluronic Acid based (Juvederm Vycross®). This is a naturally occurring substance found in the body, including the skin. As we age, the amount of Hyaluronic Acid in the body reduces, resulting in visible signs of ageing.

What are they used for?

Dermal fillers can be used to soften fine lines, wrinkles and scars. They also enhance facial contour and help restore volume. These effects give a more firm, full, youthful appearance.

What aftercare is needed?

Please avoid extreme facial expressions, alcohol consumption and applying make up for 12 hours. Please avoid extreme sun exposure, UV light, temperatures below 0 degrees C, saunas and steam rooms for 2 weeks after treatment. It is advised to avoid strenuous activity or exercise for up to 24 hours and to avoid massaging the treated area. Try to sleep with the head elevated and avoid sleeping on the injected areas for 1 or 2 days.

What does the procedure involve?

Topical local anaesthetic will be applied to the area to reduce any discomfort. Small quantities of Dermal Filler will then be injected to the desired effect, with immediate results. Optimal results are seen at 2 weeks.

What are the side effects / risks?

Swelling and redness are common but temporary, subsiding soon after your procedure. Infection, bruising and asymmetry are other risks. Note: you cannot have Dermal Fillers if you are pregnant, breast feeding or have severe allergies.
